Samabula First ward sisters came to the temple to celebrate the Relief Society anniversary, and they had three sisters coming for their first time. Also they had a new member to do baptisms for the first time, pretty exciting. We worked with Sr. Rakitia. After the Temple closed they came to the Patron housing kitchen area and had a birthday cake and ice cream. A couple from Vanuatu that came alone to be married were also invited to the celebration and the bride helped to cut the cake!
A good spirit through out. The Temple computer has been slow the last two days, this slows down the paperwork and therefore our work. A few delays that only seem to bother the non-Fijians.

Tender mercy of yesterday: We had a couple come in from Vanuatu to be married. They arrived at 12:30am, just them, no family. They are both returned missionaries. At 7am we saw her in Patron housing and teased her they could move up from the men and women dorms into a room together today. She said no, they were just doing paperwork today and would be married the next day. We were pretty sure they were on the Temple schedule to be married today so dad said he would check. At 1:30pm it was confirmed they could do their paperwork and be married. So dad walked over to Patron housing, told them the update and asked if anyone was planning on being present at the wedding the next day. No one was coming so they could do it today. They were a little hesitant but agreed. Remember this is her wedding day that is now being moved up a day in her mind but she didn’t bat an eye. They went to the Temple filled out the paperwork, walked back and got their wedding clothes, came back and were married for time and all eternity with all the temple workers and patrons that could be found to fill the room. She then put on her wedding dress. I am so humbled to say most American little girls have better wedding gowns in their dress up boxes but she was beautiful. In the meantime, a sister knocked on our door at 10am and said she was so sorry but she forgot to ask if her RS could have permission to use the Patron housing for their ward RS birthday celebration after the 8pm session. They had three new endowments to celebrate. Sure sounded like a good idea to me. Nope, it was a great idea to Heavenly Father who knows everything and is in every detail in our life. Those sweet RS sisters assessed the situation very quickly and the newlyweds had 40+ sisters at their wedding (RS birthday celebration) reception completer with cake and ice cream. The bride assisted the 3 newly endowed sisters with the cutting of the cake. Heavenly Father is now a wedding planner extraordinaire. There has been no happier bride than I met tonight.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know Elder Shaver had taken a picture, I am so glad he did.
